Saber Psychiatry in Franklin Announces New Options for Treatment-resistant Depression?

If you have been treated for depression but your symptoms have not improved, you may have treatment-resistant depression. Saber Psychiatry, in partnership with Michael Faraday Health, is now offering Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). TMS is a noninvasive technological breakthrough that stimulates nerve cells in the region of the brain associated with mood control and depression. This treatment is now available for patients 18 years of age and older who have not responded well to other depression treatments.

Prevalence of Major Depressive Episode Among Adults

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) reports the following statistics for the prevalence of major depressive episodes among United States adults aged 18 or older in 2020:

  • An estimated 21.0 million adults in the United States had at least one major depressive episode. This number represented 8.4 percent of all U.S. adults.
  • The prevalence of major depressive episodes was higher among adult females (10.5 percent) compared to males (6.2 percent)
  • The prevalence of adults with a major depressive episode was highest among individuals aged 18-25 (17.0 percent)
