Parent Training, Family Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
At Saber Psychiatry, we treat the family and patient as a whole system. Our parent training programs and family therapy sessions help parents and family members learn how to cope with the mental illness of a loved one and learn how to move through situations that cause stress, grief, anger, or conflict with greater awareness and ease.
The family learns how to support the person in treatment and better understand one another, strengthen communication, deepen family connections, and offer greater support to the person in treatment.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy involves efforts to recognize and change thinking and behavioral patterns that affect a person’s ability to function in daily life. The therapist helps the person identify unhelpful ways of thinking and behavior and teaches people suffering from psychological problems better coping strategies to relieve their symptoms, allowing them to become more effective in daily life.
CBT encourages individuals to learn to become their own therapists. They practice exercises at home to strengthen coping skills, ultimately leading the person to learn how to change their thinking, troublesome emotions, and behavior.
