Mental health is all too often ignored in the United States as a matter of willpower as if we could talk ourselves into having non-broken bones, normal blood pressure, or 20/20 vision. When you’re having trouble with your physical health, you know it is important to seek professional help to recover to smooth functioning. At Saber Psychiatry, we help people from ages 2 through 65 do the same thing for mental health.
Call us at 615-678-7839 for compassionate, holistic, board-certified care.
Mental health is a catchall term for a person’s overall cognitive, emotional, and behavioral well-being. At Saber Psychiatry, we address challenges to attention, emotional regulation, sleep, and behavior. Coping with life’s challenges should NOT be a challenge.

What Drives Mental Health?
Like any kind of health, mental health is determined by a combination of factors, such as:
Genetics
Early childhood
Social and economic factors
Environment (social and physical)
Physical health, including sleep
Presence or absence of supportive family and friends
At Saber Psychiatry, we work with clients to help them (you!) reach and maintain good mental health. While we appreciate the usefulness of medication, we know that cognitive approaches, family training, and physical or lifestyle changes are often as or more helpful. Frequently, both medical and other approaches are used in combination.
Poor mental health is not an isolated problem. People who suffer from depression, anxiety, or other challenges also have poorer measures of physical measures such as cardiac health, respiratory illnesses, and sleep.
One of the major challenges for people suffering from mental health problems is the stigma related to seeking help. At Saber Psychiatry, we urge you to appreciate the strength it takes to acknowledge that some challenges require professional help.
